Your files stay on your device.
Summary
Knack processes your files entirely on your device — they are never uploaded to us or anyone else. The only data we collect is anonymous, aggregate usage analytics and crash reports, used solely to improve the app. It contains no personal data, no account, and never the names or contents of your files. You can turn it off at any time in Settings.
What we collect
Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports — nothing else. To learn which features people use and to fix crashes, Knack sends anonymous, aggregate events (for example, that a tool was opened, plus the app version and build). This is handled by PostHog (product analytics) and Sentry (crash reporting). We do not collect personal data, user accounts, advertising identifiers, or any file names, paths, or contents. Analytics profiles are anonymous and are never linked to your identity, and we never track you across other apps or websites. All of this is on by default and can be switched off in Settings; crash reporting then stops on the next launch.
Files you process in Knack
Every tool in Knack — Image Convert, Image Compress, PDF Toolkit, OCR, AI Background Remover, AI Upscaler, and all others — runs locally on your Mac using Apple frameworks (Vision, Core ML, PDFKit, Core Image). Your files never leave your device.
In-app purchases
Knack Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. Apple handles all payment, billing, and refunds. We do not see or store your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to that transaction — see apple.com/legal/privacy.
Knack verifies purchases locally using StoreKit 2's signed transaction mechanism, which runs entirely on your Mac.
Third-party services
Knack uses no advertising SDKs and no tracking networks. It sends two kinds of anonymous telemetry, both of which you can turn off in Settings → Privacy (“Share anonymous usage & crash data”): crash reports via Sentry (EU-hosted) — app version and a technical stack trace, never your files or their contents — and usage counts via PostHog (EU-hosted) — anonymous events like “a tool ran”, never what it ran on. No user profile is created and nothing is linked to your identity.

Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for instance, if we add a feature that genuinely needs network access — we will update the date at the top and describe the change. The version that shipped with your build of Knack is the version that applies to you.
